We made a Kayak trip to visit the hot springs along the Colorado river in the Black Canyon along the Nevada-Arizona border.

There were several geothermal caves along the river.

After leaving the kayak, we hiked through the trails to find the source of the hot spring.

It is necessary to ascend several small waterfalls to get to the bath.

The water running down the stream here is warm.

The hot spring water is very refreshing after hiking.

Ah, so good!   What a feeling.

Farther upstream we decided to spash ourselves with the hot springs water for refreshment.

Beyond this point the water was too hot for bathing.

The hot springs water mixes here with some cool stream water to provide the perfect temperature.

This little guy loves hot springs too!

Hot Springs Waterfall: ( Yu no Taki)      This is the hot springs waterfall below the ladder leading to the baths at the Arizona Hot Springs

The 18-step ladder provides access to the deeper baths.  Be careful not going up the ladder.

There isn't a place for changing clothes here because the bath is in the nature, but we found a dry spot along the rocks.

She spashes her body with several buckets of hot water to adjust to the temperature and rinse off her sweat before entering the bath.

Arizona Hot Springs (main bath)

Sand bags dam up the hot spring water in this slot canyon to provide a nice depth for bathing.  It feels a bit hot to the skin at first, but after getting used to the temperature it is quite soothing.

We filled up on drinking water at the source of the hot spring.  It tastes a little bit salty with mineral flavor.

Here is a map showing the route we took.  Launching at the kayak at the Hoover Dam, it was a 12-mile journey by boat.  The 21-foot kayak was large enough for two persons, our food and water, and camping equipment for the overnight stay in the nature.   We had to be careful to tie up our boat securely because the  water level of the river can rise or fall up to 4 feet within a short time.

During this trip we also visited the slot canyons of Arizona.  This is not a waterfall, but a kind of waterfall of sand.  (sandfall?)

In this Arizona canyon which we passed through there was no water at all as it is the dry season here.  If only this place had a hot springs bath, it would be perfect.
