We decided to attempt the Kurokawa Hot Springs "Fighting Spirit Challenge" Successful completion of the Fighting Spirit Challenge requires us to bathe at 15 participating hot springs at Kurokawa Onsen and obtain a stamp from each one. Those who successfully complete the Fighting Spirit Challenge receive a large wooden plaque and a Kurokawa Hot Springs gift bag.

ANAYU 穴湯
Ananoyu Public Bath: put a 100 yen coin in the collection box to take a bath here. Children are 50 yen.
Ananoyu Yukake
There is a sign on the wall with the rules. The sign reads: Request to customers: 1. Please put the money in the collection jar. It is used for the maintenance of the bath. 2. Before getting in the bath, please splash yourself with water. 3. Please refrain from wearing bath towels or bathing suits in the bath. 4. No eating or drinking in the bathing area 5. The bath temperature is properly adjusted so please don't put any tap water into the bath. 6. Wipe off your body in the changing area. 7. Please take your garbage with you.

OKUNOYU 奥の湯
Early morning bath at Okunoyu. The steam catches the light as the hot water falls down from the bamboo spout. This lovely riverside bath features a great view.

Sitting under a thatched roof at Okunoyu, she enjoys some serenity in the konyoku (mixed bathing area). The door behind her leads to the women-only area.
YAMAMIZUKI 山みず木
She splashes the hot water over her skin before getting into the lovely riverside bath at Yamamizuki.
This bath's features are very large size mixed rotenburo and beautiful river running next to it.
There are also two bamboo shower spouts which we enjoyed. Its good for shoulder massage. Sit under the falling water and let it hit your shoulders.
HOZANTEI 帆山亭
This mixed-gender rotenburo features a bath of cool spring water at the far side and a hot bath at the near side. A river runs next to the bath. The nice relaxing sounds of the flowing water are so soothing.

By getting into the cold water after sweating in the hot water the pores of the skin will shrink instantly and the skin will tighten due to the change in temperature. It will promote the metabolism.

This is the Fighting Spirit Challenge award which we received for completing visits to 15 hotsprings in Kurokawa Onsen. It is a wooden plaque measuring 20 centimeters in diameter (8 inches).
