"Yumeguri Tegata" [湯めぐり手形] (hot springs rally pass) is available for 900 yen from participating ryokan or tha Shiobara tourist association. It is worth the price since it allows for 1 free entry to the hot springs of your choice and half price entry at all other participating hot springs in the area.
All of the hot springs visited below are either konyoku 混浴 (mixed-gender) or kashikiri 貸切(rented for private use) type.
1. Ooami Onsen
320 stone steps below the street level is the upper bath of Ooami Onsen [大網温泉湯守田中屋](upperbath) PH: 7.7 Temp: 40.6℃ GPS: 36 57.948 139 51.639
Shiobara 畑下温泉, Aoba-no-yu Rules: 1. Administrative fee 200 yen per person. 2. Closing time is 9:30pm 3. Take care of your valuables. 4. Please don't eat or drink in the bath and take your own garbage out. 5. don't throw cigarette butts. 6. Please don't wear swimming suits or bath towels in the bath. 6. Please don't be too noisy. 7. Not responsible for personal injury.
After decending a long wooden stairway, there is the riverside bath: Shiobara, Shio-no-yu-onsen 塩の湯温泉 Myogaya honkan Far bath: Temp: 41.7℃ PH: 5.8 Middle bath: Temp: 40.1℃ PH: 5.2

Shiobara, Shio-no-yu-onsen 塩の湯温泉 The bath of the defunct ryokan adjecent to Myogaya Honkan is closed, but there is a small amount of warm water here.
6. Arayu Onsen
Arayu Onsen新湯温泉, Teranoyu This mixed-gender public bathhouse has no attendant, so put the 300 yen fee in the slot before entering.

Arayu Onsen新湯温泉, Teranoyu Temp: 44.4℃ PH: 1.4 Very acidic water. The taste is very sour with a slight sulfer smell. The water is an opaque white. Upon arriving at the next inn, the innkeeper could tell that we had bathed here by the smell on our bodies, (which we did not realize)
Kitanoyu Large outdoor konyoku bath 15x10 meters Temp 41.1℃ PH:5.3 On clear nights you can float on your back and see a beautiful view of the stars above.
Kita Onsen, 北温泉, Tengu no yu, Temp: 43.3℃, PH: 5.9 Prayers and wishes are written on wooden plaques and placed near the Tengu. Many of them wished for a baby.
Tengu-no-yu: Tengu are mountain and forest goblins with both Shinto and Buddhist attributes.
北温泉 Kita Onsen, Tengu-no-yu. A strong flow of the mineral-rich waters provides constantly fresh hot mineral water for the baths.
Kita Onsen 北温泉 Utase-no-yu, the hot water falls from above and creates a steamy effect in the bath.
Kita Onsen 北温泉 Yukake: A woman splashes herself with water to become adjusted to the temperature before entering the bath.
